Arsenal's Summer Signings 2011

Well who'd of thought the 2011 summer transfer window would end like that, five new experienced Arsenal signings within 48 hours!
Just when most were starting to conceive that Arsene Wenger was stubborn with his transfer policy and would never change he goes and shocks us all signing five players who all have great experience for club and country, well apart from Arteta but him and Benayoun have plentiful premier league experience.
In the past few seasons as a Gooner the end of the transfer window has been a quiet time of which we could sit back and watch other clubs complete the large deadline day deals, this time that was not the case and we seemed to be linked with almost every Euorpean footballer in the last 48 hours of the window.
Bids were rumored to have been placed for a mix of top players but as some were rejected by clubs for being too low and some where the player had no desire to leave a club our fight to sign a new midfielder went right to the line and even Sky News weren't 100% sure the deal to bring Mikel Arteta from Everton to Arsenal had gone through until a few minutes after 11pm BST.
It was certainly a case of the transfer situation changing every half hour with some journalists reporting an hour earlier that the deal certainly would not go through.
Eventually though the deals were clarified and all was signed and sealed.
Who did Arsenal sign in 2011?
In the end we made a total of nine signings during the 2011 summer transfer window, these are the players that joined in the correct order:
- Carl Jenkinson
- Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain
- Joel Campbell
- Chu Young Park
- Andre Santos
- Per Mertesacker
- Yossi Benayoun
- Mikel Arteta
Carl joined Arsenal from Charlton Athletic for a figure around
